NaNoWriMo 2014

Hellooooo, out there!

We've been silent for a few months, I know, but I have plans for the new year! Never fear! I need to run them by herecirm first, of course, but in the meantime, lets do what we always do in November: NaNoWriMo!

For the past few years, thewyrmx has taken a break from prompts every November for the event known as NaNoWriMo.

Lets talk about it! Post your daily word count so we can cheer you on! Post snippets so we can enjoy your wild imagination! Ask fact-based, or even ridiculous questions that have to do with your novel, you never know what kind of answers you'll get! Just know that we're here for you through the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly.

Here is a list of helpful communities and websites:
little_details. They are a community that helps writers with their research and fact-checking.

Fractal World Generator. Great for world building if you need any sort of physical reference for your world or are just looking for ideas.

Seventh Sanctum. A massive list of generators for almost anything you could want. Some are silly and some are serious, but most are a mix of the two. I've used this place for years.

Writing Exercises. A great site with prompts and generators.

Write or Die. This encourages you to keep writing, or it punishes you.

Written? Kitten! On the opposite end of the spectrum to Write or Die, this one rewards your word count with pictures of kittens!

If anybody wants to add me as a NaNo buddy, my username is Rainechan (and be sure to leave me a message either here or there, so that I know who you are and can add you back!).

For those of you who don't do NaNoWriMo, feel free to pick past monthly prompts. Just make sure that you tag them accordingly.

Happy noveling!

Ready for a quick word-sprint before bed,

Raine

Prompt Set: April 2014, "Palindromes"

No prompts yesterday? APRIL FOOLS!

...
...

No? Okay. I admit, even if I wrote the date down a million times, yesterday, it still didn't occur to me exactly which day it was. Ooops...

While on the subject of April Fools, lets have some mad fun with this month's prompts! Free to interpret as you wish!

This month's theme is: Palindromes.

As always, please refer to the profile for more information and rules. Your next prompt list will be posted by herecirm on May 1st.

Also don't forget that you are not restrained by the prompts of this month, only! You can write to whatever prompt from previous months, too. Just be sure to tag and list them accordingly.

Lottery: Sometimes, the best creativity comes as a result of constraint. Leave a comment on this post with your character(s) name, and I will match a prompt with them at random. You might find yourself exploring a scene you wouldn't have thought of otherwise!

Enjoy!

Prompt List: March 2014, "Numbers"

Yes, I am a very bad mod. Here are your March prompts, only 10 days late! I think rainechan deserves a raise. Or a promotion. :P Not only does she always manage to get her prompts out on time, but she very politely prods me until I get around to posting mine...

This month's theme is: Numbers

Although I knew that we are now February, it just now dawned on me that we are the first of the month, and that it's my turn to post the monthly prompts. Oops. XD

February is well known for Valentine's Day on the 14th (and less well known is my birthday on the 7th... Ahem!), so this month will not only reflect the feeling of love, but also the hatred on the other end of the spectrum.

This month's theme is: Love and Hate.

Turns, pivots, and twists.

I come bearing more gifts! Here is another article a friend sent me.

Twenty five turns, pivots, and twists to complicate your story.

It may sound like dance moves (as a bellydancer, I can attest to this), but I assure you that this article is all about your imagination when it comes to writing. Be cautious, however: It's hilarious, but contains strong language.

I hope you all find this one useful, as well, if not entertaining (my favorite part was about the example with the Nakatomi Plaza)!

Keep on writing!

Welcome to December! If you participated, how did you do for NaNoWriMo? Did you reach the 50K goal?

I am always one to say that my characters are the ones to tell the story, and that I'm just around for the ride. Well, my villain threw me such a curveball that I had to yell out "PLOT TWIST!". In recognition of that, this month's theme is all about villains.

This month's theme is: Anti-Heros and Villains.

It's October, which means it's nearly NaNoWriMo! Who's excited? I'M EXCITED. This month's prompts are all about getting to know your characters, ready for 30 days and nights of literary abandon. Write your answers in drabble format (or a longer piece, if you're feeling inspired!).

This month's theme is: Character prep
